R.I.P. Guru

Guru - one half of the almightly Gang Starr (July 17, 1966 - April, 19, 2010) Sadly lost his battle with cancer, after much suffering from a cardiac arrest to coma.

Guru will be lost but not forgotten.

Keeping up appearances…..

Seems I have been pretty slack on the old blog front!

It came to my attention that the old Emzilla blogspot had been fully neglected when I met someone on the weekend who said to me “I stumbled on your blog”.
My first reaction was to cringe in defence. I bet you ask why?

Well the last time I had written something was back on the 2nd of March!

So here is my ode to ye old blogspot.

1/ I promise to keep up appearances even when real life gets hectic.

and

2/ I promise to keep the content interesting to keep those people who happen to stumble upon me amused.

So content here we come!

Hi -Top Fades

Mad props to Hi-Top Fades and those who rocked.

I remembered about these as I watched (for a brief second) House Party 2 with Kid 'n Play. They made this hairstyle along with Big Daddy Kane one of the most uber cool haircuts of the late 80's.

Defination of the Hi-Top Fade:
A hi-top fade is a style of haircut where hair on the sides is cut off or kept very low and hair on the top of the head is very long (in contrast, a low fade is when hair on the top is kept shorter). The hi-top has been a trend symbolizing the Golden Era of Hip Hop and urban contemporary music during the late 1980s and the early 1990s.

Sunbaking in Hyde Park

Is UNACCEPTABLE even more so if you are an old person!

Today I was dropped off for work near Hyde Park (Sydney) and as I was walking through my retina's were burned from the sight of some elderly pension types sun baking in their swimmers!

Granny had on a bikini and Grandpa had on dick stickers!

This is not on people, this is not on!

Not to mention the only thing remotely close to swimming water at Hyde Park is a fountain! Arghhh my eyes!

I tried to stealth a photo but I will save your eyes from the sight of brown, wrinkled prunish flesh with only the uglies covered by the tightest of tight Lycra!

Barbie gets a hijab

Barbie has been somewhat of a controversial icon to little ladies and bigger ladies around the world since 1959.

We have seen Barbie go through many transformations from Barbie and the Rockers to ballerina Barbie, Malibu Barbie and beauty Barbie, family Barbie with token baby and relationship Barbie with her sexy boyfriend Ken.

Mattel has been on a quest to turn Barbie into the all American woman (relating to all women) so she has been Latino, African-American and parts of other ethnic community groups.

Questions about Barbie relating to all ethnic groups were raised when even the very low key "Princess Barbie's" attire was bought up as it exposed areas of her body such as her cleavage and half of her arms.

So intelligent toy makers have come up with a solution. Barbie has now converted to Islam and now comes with morals, prayer mat and hijab.

Introducing Fulla "A Girls Dream Doll".

Differences between the two. Barbie is independent, has a great job and is what ever she puts her mind too, the only issue with Barbie is she is societies idea of the Blonde Bimbo. Fulla is Muslim yes but everything else is really the same. She wears a hijab but it is an accessory much like the camper van or the Ferrari. Fulla is extremely fashion conscious and to me it seems that she is the type of doll that can teach young Muslim girls to feel beautiful like her while wearing a hijab.

Another difference is Fulla doesn't come armed with optional Prince charming / Ken. She is single and does not date. To me this seems kind of strange, Ken was never a temptation to me nor to Barbie as he had plastic undies (plastic crotch) meaning he had inaccessible bits and pieces.

Also how will Fulla meet her husband?

I must say I love Barbie and as a child I had an array of different styles. To me the fun was undressing them and making her engage in some foreplay with Ken or my NKOTB Dolls.

Fulla I can understand is filling a need for a religious group which is great, but my final thought if all little girls think the same as I did the Hijab will be on the floor and Fulla will be partying it up in the spa with Fatima, Barbie and Skipper.

I'm kicking 2009 in the nuts!

So long 2009, Hello 2010.

I can’t help but feel rather festive this year…. Why cause 2009 has been a C*$t of a year and I am ready to chill the fuck out with family and friends!

I realised it was a hectic year when I was talking to one of my friends yesterday that I have not spoken to since mid September.
When he asked me what I have been doing I told him my toilet roll list of shit that has happened in the last 3 months.
He finished the conversation by saying “Holy crap emz, I don’t talk to you for 3 months and your life totally changes”.

It is true……

For me I can say the following has happened:

Broke up with Ex
Moved from Melbourne back to Sydney.
Moved in with my parents.
Started Sydney job.
Met my boyfriend.
Moved from my parents to place in Alexandria.
Went on a trip to Melbourne
Sold my car
Sent my son (dog) off to live with another family
Got head-hunted
Had my birthday
Got fucked over by work.
Visited parents in Lismore
Started job at place was head hunted by
Got screwed by flat mates that was living with on bond.
Moved in with boyfriend
Moved our stuff out of our houses (2 houses into studio apartment over 3 weeks in evenings and weekends in a VAN.)
Met Cheech, Kimberley, Sarah, Mookie and the crew.
Helped out the COP girls with photo shoot by sharing my sneaks.
Enrolled into university
The company I was headhunted by changed the goal posts of the business.
Got offered a “casual” sales job
Decided I never wanted to be in recruitment again.
Quit job in recruitment.
Started “casual sales job”
Started uni
Started a second job in retail.
Juggling time between both jobs and uni!!! NUTS

There was lots of shopping, daily drinking of ciders, facebooking, blogging and eating in between….

Along with all of that my boyfriend has done just as much since May….

So I would like to bid farewell to 2009 as it has been a prick of a year and welcome 2010 with open arms.

It couldn’t be more stressful than this year (knock on wood / fingers crossed)!!!
